About the Funding A Water-Secure Future Data Dashboard

Welcome to the Funding a Water-Secure Future Data Dashboard, an interactive tool that showcases the underlying data from the recent World Bank report. This dashboard represents the first-ever effort to compile a publicly available database on spending in the water sector as well as the related funding and financing gaps.

This dashboard is designed to provide policymakers, development practitioners, and stakeholders with a clear and comprehensive view of global public spending in the water sector and the funding and financing gaps to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) for the sector.

The dashboard visualizes critical data, including annual spending, spending needs, spending gaps, budget execution rates, and inefficiencies, highlighting where weaknesses are most pressing in the water sector. Through its interactive features, users can explore how governments allocate resources to the water sector and track progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The components included in this version of dashboard includes:

The goal is for this dashboard to support governments and development partners to identify funding and financing gaps in the water sector and enhancing the efficiency of water-related investments. This data enables the stakeholders to explore the financial landscape across regions, identify potential weaknesses in the sector, and gain a clearer understanding of how to bridge the gap between current spending and the funding required to secure water access for all by 2030.

We encourage you to explore the data, leverage the insights, and join us in working towards a future where water security is a reality for all. Your engagement with this tool can help shape better outcomes for communities, countries, and the global water sector.
